Golf Simulator Events

The simulator is not the event. It is what keeps the event moving.

A simulator event lives or dies on format. The technology is essentially a given now, and the difference between a flat evening and a good one is almost entirely in how the play is organized.

Formats that work for groups

Closest to the pin. The most reliable option for mixed ability. One swing, instant result, no accumulation of bad holes. Everyone stays interested.

Team scramble. Best ball across a group. Weaker players contribute without exposure and the strongest player cannot carry the night alone.

Long drive, with a catch. Pure distance favours one person. Adding a fairway requirement makes it a genuine contest.

Nine holes, alternating. Suits smaller groups with time. The pace produces long stretches of conversation, which is the point.

Points-based skins. A single good hole earns something, so a poor start does not end anyone's evening.

Designing for people who do not play

Any group of a reasonable size includes people who have never held a club. A good format makes that irrelevant within ten minutes. A bad one makes them spectators for two hours.

The practical rules: short formats, generous handicapping, teams rather than individuals, and no scoreboard that publicly ranks people by ability.

The room around the bay

In a well-designed suite, the time between shots is the social part. Seating positioned so everyone can see and talk. Service that arrives without breaking the rhythm. Sound levels that allow a normal conversation while someone is playing.

Most simulator venues treat the seating as storage. That single decision determines whether the evening works.

At Enclave

Enclave is being built in East Cobb with private simulator suites designed as rooms rather than bays. Formats and arrangements for private use are still being finalized.
